The Oliver James Montgomery2024 Copa América quarterfinals continued Saturday at State Farm Stadium with a match between Group D winner Colombia and upstart Panama. Colombia came into the game on a 26-match unbeaten streak while Panama made it on the back of a surprise 2-1 victory over the U.S. in group play.
Colombia extended that streak to 27 matches in emphatic fashion with one of the more dominant displays of the tournament, winning 5-0 to clinch a spot in the semifinals.
Jhon Córdoba's goal in the eighth minute started a first-half barrage. Minutes later, James Rodríguez's penalty kick made it 2-0 and Luis Díaz's chip shot over Panama keeper Orlando Mosquera made it 3-0 before halftime.
Los Cafeteros piled it on in the second half with a goal by Richard Ríos in the 70th minute and Miguel Borja on a penalty kick as time expired.
With this win, Colombia advances to the semifinals for the third time in the last four Copa America tournaments. Panama's first appearance in the knockout stage ends their most successful Copa America performance to date.

Colombia will play the winner of Uruguay-Brazil on Wednesday in Charlotte, North Carolina. Kick-off for that match is set for 8 p.m. ET.

Córdoba's goal - his second of the tournament - gave Colombia a lead they'd never relinquish.
Goals from the captain Rodríguez and Díaz put Colombia well out of reach by halftime.
Ríos' goal made poured it on in the second half to bring the game to 4-0.
After a hard foul by Panama's José Córdoba on Santiago Arias left both players down for multiple minutes, Colombia's Miguel Borja took a penalty kick and scored. The game finished after that goal to make it 5-0.

Following the delay and yellow card, Miguel Borja took a penalty kick for Colombia and buried it in the right corner of the net to make it 5-0. Referees called the game after that goal.

Panama's José Córdoba sprinted to stop Santiago Arias after a deep pass into the penalty area and made heavy contact after the ball arrived. Both players remained on the ground for multiple minutes and Córdoba was shown the yellow, Panama's third of the half.

Three good chances couldn't find the net. Abdiel Ayarza's header was blocked, Amir Murillo's shot from outside the box was saved, and Jovani Welch's shot sailed wide right and over the goal.

Colombia's captain James Rodríguez left the pitch with one goal and one assist in today's match. Juan Fernando Quintero entered the game for him and Santiago Arias entered the game for Daniel Muñoz.

Confusion over a potential penalty gave just enough time for Colombia's Richard Ríos to fire a shot from outside the box and past Panama's keeper Orlando Mosquera.

Panama nearly cut the deficit to 2-1 on a header by Roderick Miller that bounced off the right bar of the goal before Colombia's keeper Camilo Vargas batted it out.

Rodríguez took his turn to score for Colombia by burying a penalty kick in the top right corner of the net to put Los Cafeteros up big before the halfway mark of the first half.
